An Interview with the Dan who writes music, performs, records under the name of doubleu.
His music gives you goosebumps and is quite relaxing and catchy all at the same time.
Role in band
What is your favourite era for music?
I think a lot of the time people over look current music, the newer stuff interest me more. its just a matter of finding what you like amongst the rest.
What are your aspirations for the rest of 2016?
I guess just do everything as it comes to me, I really want to get back into recording and hopefully get some more gig opportunities. Also to collaborate with the people I have met through music.
How would you categorise your music so far?
Honest, melancholy bedroom pop not trying to do anything too profound
Who are your biggest influences?
Arlo, Sufjan Stevens, Elvis Depressedley, Athylia, just people who play cool shit

Do you have any process / routines when writing and rehearsing?
Make myself sad and play guitar
How did you get into music and performing?
Just kind of happened like some people go to sports, I went to music. i think when i was like 13 i was listening to slipknot and wanted to start playing guitar
Arlo - drummer
How do you feel about the music scene today?
Whats your advice for other Auckland bands / musicians who want to be noticed and follow their musical passions?
I'm not sure, but just put the music first yah know? if you make good music that people will like then all the other stuff will come naturally and you wont have to worry about being noticed. So many bands and musicians try and promote themselves before they release anything. In my opinion, make something and show your friends and if they like it enough, it will spread around.
